Developing a Jaundiced Eye

In activism on January 29, 2010 at 8:52 am

When it comes to legislation, we would do well to learn to view it with a jaundiced eye.

For example, I know quite a few otherwise savvy defenders of our unalienable rights that will entirely lose their healthy suspicion of government provided that a particular piece of legislation purports to do something to curtail illegal immigration.  E verify, Real ID and similar measures that trumpet the ability to limit unlawful immigrants’ access to some benefits of citizenship are often heartily endorsed by people who should know better.

There is a reason that dedicated advocates of the Second Amendment actively oppose these national ID schemes even though most are no fan of unfettered illegal immigration.

They have thrown off the rose colored glasses and maintain their cynicism.   They practice of reading the bill with the question “How could these words be used to take my liberties from me should they become law?”

The following link will take you to an excellent demonstration of the proper use of the jaundiced eyed by Gun Owners of  Nevada.
