Fight continues to “fix” campaign financing

State Rep. Richard Morrissette, D-Oklahoma City, has gifted us with a proposal to make Oklahoma the eighth state to enact a “voter-owned” (publicly financed) elections bill. He chose Thursday for the launch because it was the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address, the one in which Kennedy urged Americans to ask not what their country can do them but to ask what they can do for their country. In Morrissette’s mind, this remark was about people running for office at taxpayer expense rather than, say, joining the Peace Corps or the U.S. Marine Corps.
